Program Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twin technology, and Smart Systems are key drivers of global industrial innovation. Developing professionals with advanced digital expertise combined with strong capabilities in engineering and design is essential to meeting industry demands and supporting sustainable economic growth in alignment with Thailand 4.0.

Building on a long-standing academic partnership, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) and Northumbria University, United Kingdom, jointly offer an international 3.5 + 1 Transnational Education (TNE) Program. This program integrates computer engineering, artificial intelligence, and industrial design to deliver an industry-relevant, globally oriented curriculum aligned with international standards.

Supported by the Thai-UK TNE Grant (No. 2025-954), the program emphasizes academic excellence, applied research, technology transfer, and workforce development, preparing students with advanced digital skills to thrive in the Industry 4.0 era and to engage effectively in global professional environments.

The objectives

To develop a transnational education program in the 3.5 + 1 year format between the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) and the Master of Science in Industrial Design at Northumbria University.

To develop a joint curriculum that integrates engineering, artificial intelligence, digital twin technology, and innovative design, in order to support international education provision.

To enhance teaching and learning capacity, research collaboration, and international exchange of students and academic staff among partner institutions within the cooperation network.

To develop a sustainable and continuous ecosystem for transnational education (TNE) and collaborative research.
